Like most things, your taste will change over time and the jewellery you often wore may no longer reflect your taste today. White metals such as Platinum, Palladium and white gold are now more popular that yellow gold and we’re often asked to remodel a piece of jewellery in to a white metal. The unwanted yellow gold is then offset on the price of the new ring.
As jewellery designs are becoming more bolder, we often see clients who have 3 or 4 precious stone rings and wish to create a single statement ring with all the stones set into just one ring, that being said we are also asked to melt larger pieces of jewellery down into smaller pieces of jewellery which are often given to children or grandchildren.
Inherited Jewellery
You may have inherited a piece of jewellery that is not to your taste, whilst it has sentimental value it never gets worn because it is dated, worn out or simply just not you. This piece of jewellery could have stones unset and the metal melted down and crafted into a new piece of custom made jewellery using the stones and metal from the original ring.
Our designers and goldsmiths will work with you and create you a bespoke piece of jewellery that you will enjoy wearing, whilst retaining the sentimental value attached to the original piece.
Recycle Your Broken Gold
If like most people you will have a little area in their jewellery box or drawer that is filled with broken jewellery; this could be a ring that doesn’t fit anymore, broken chains, links from a bracelet or even odd earrings. Using gold you may already own to create new jewellery is an inexpensive alternative to using new Gold. Our bespoke jewellery service can create you a new piece of jewellery from your old gold, diamonds and gemstones, many of the pieces you see on our site have been created this way.

If you are looking for something different that will reflect your personality and individuality, our bespoke jewellery design service can create a truly original piece of jewellery, whether it’s an engagement ring, wedding ring, fancy dress ring or any piece of jewellery, we can custom design a piece of jewellery to your requirements and more importantly to your budget.
So what is bespoke jewellery? Sometimes referred to as “Custom Made Jewellery” or even “Made to Order Jewellery”. To put it simply, we create a piece of jewellery that is unique to you, at Lester and Brown, we have been designing jewellery for over 30 years and we’ve seen many changes over this time.
Why no join us at our Jewellery Design Studio in Cheshire for a free consultation where we will guide you through the jewellery design process, once you have an idea for the style of jewellery you want, we will sketch your ideas down to get things started. We will stop at nothing until you’re happy with your design, so we will go through as many design drafts until you are completely satisfied.
When you are happy with your unique jewellery design, we will then create a 3d virtual model of your piece for your approval; this is when your jewellery design really begins to take shape. Only when you are happy with your design, will we create your unique piece of jewellery, which will be hand finished and set with stones of your choosing or your original stones in our own workshops.

After inheriting a 3 stone diamond ring which was far too wide for my finger, I took it along to Lester and Brown to get some advice on how I could modernise and make the ring fit my finger better.
I was very excited to see the stages of my ring being designed, from a simple sketch to a computer generated design followed by a mock up wax impression. Suddenly my ring was brought to life in wax form. Next was the rough metal stage for a final sitting before polishing and final stone transfer.

What can I say; there isn’t a superlative that does you credit and your work justice. But to say that I am over-the-moon would be a good place to start… Having spent the best part of ten years hidden away at the back of a drawer, I decided that the time had come to “recycle” some old rings that I had.
